The tragedy occurred when another train, the Karnataka Express, approached on the adjacent track and struck the unsuspecting passengers. At least 12 people lost their lives on Wednesday in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district after stepping onto railway tracks following a rumour of a fire onboard the Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express. The tragedy occurred when another train, the Karnataka Express, approached on the adjacent track and struck the unsuspecting passengers.

Around 5 PM, the Pushpak Express stopped between Maheji and Pardhade stations after a passenger pulled the emergency chain. Sparks caused by a technical issue were mistaken for a fire, causing panic. Several passengers exited and were hit by the Karnataka Express.

Response and Safety - Rescue teams rushed to assist victims, and authorities are investigating. The incident highlights the need for better passenger safety awareness and improved protocols during emergencies.
