At least 12 people lost their lives on Wednesday in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district after stepping onto railway tracks following a rumour of a fire onboard the Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express. The tragedy occurred when another train, the Karnataka Express, approached on the adjacent track and struck the unsuspecting passengers.

Around 5 PM, the Pushpak Express stopped between Maheji and Pardhade stations after a passenger pulled the emergency chain. Sparks caused by a technical issue were mistaken for a fire, causing panic. Several passengers exited and were hit by the Karnataka Express.

Response and Safety -  Rescue teams rushed to assist victims, and authorities are investigating. The incident highlights the need for better passenger safety awareness and improved protocols during emergencies.
