Bihar Election 2025 Phase 1: Record 64.66% Voter Turnout — Democracy Triumphs!

– Bihar recorded its highest-ever voter turnout: 64.66% – Surpasses 62.57% in 2000 and 57.29% in 2020 – The Election Commission said polling was peaceful and transparent – A total of 3.75 crore voters participated across 121 constituencies in 18 district

What Makes It Historic

– This is Bihar’s highest Assembly turnout since 1951 – Even beats the 1998 Lok Sabha turnout (64.6%)Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar congratulated voter “Bihar has shown the way to the nation — transparent polls, record participation, democracy wins.”

Smooth Polling Operations

45,314 polling booths managed the huge voter rush – The ECI thanked officers for “dedication and transparency” – Minimal reports of disruption or violence – Poll body calls it a “peaceful and proud moment” for Bihar

Voter Enthusiasm by District

Begusarai: Highest turnout — 67.32%Patna: 55.02% – Sheikhpura: Lowest — 52.36% “People turned out early despite long queues — a sign of enthusiasm and civic pride.”

Political Reactions: NDA

Samrat Choudhary (BJP, Dy CM): “Reports show NDA will win 100 of the 121 seats.” He also predicted Tejashwi Yadav’s defeat in Raghopur. Nityanand Rai (Union MoS Home): “High turnout shows Bihar’s faith in NDA and its vision for a developed state.”

Opposition’s Take: Mahagathbandhan

Tejashwi Yadav (RJD): “Bihar has voted for change — people came out to end 20 years of darkness.” He claimed that a wave of change is sweeping across Bihar. Congress leader Pawan Khera: “Youth, women, elderly — all voting in anger. This is the vote for change.”
