A few days ago, an unfortunate incident took place in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand, on January 26, 2026. Reports and widely circulated videos on social media showed a group allegedly linked to the Bajrang Dal creating unrest in the name of Hindutva.
The controversy reportedly centered around a small establishment named “Baba Shop,” owned by an elderly Muslim man believed to be in his mid-70s. Video footage suggested that the shop’s ownership details were clearly displayed on the signboard. Despite this, the situation escalated, and the elderly shopkeeper appeared distressed as tensions rose.
Amid the chaos, a local gym trainer and gym owner named Deepak intervened and stood up to protect the elderly man. According to accounts shared online, Deepak attempted to calm the situation and prevent further harassment. However, he allegedly faced threats and intimidation for his actions.
Subsequently, it was reported that a large group of individuals mobilized from Dehradun to Kotdwar in multiple vehicles. They reportedly gathered publicly, raised slogans against Deepak, and verbally abused him. Allegations also suggest that he and his family were subjected to threats and offensive language.
This incident has sparked serious discussions about communal harmony, individual courage, and the responsibility of society to protect vulnerable citizens.
