By Puja Gupta

Travel booking giant OYO has announced a significant change in its check-in policy, starting in Meerut, where unmarried couples will no longer be permitted to check in at partner hotels.

Key Highlights New Check-In Policy: Couples must now present valid proof of relationship during check-in, even for online bookings. Empowered Partner Hotels: Hotels have been granted the discretion to decline couple bookings based on their judgment, reflecting local social norms. Implementation in Meerut: The new guidelines are being implemented immediately in Meerut.

Reason Behind the Change OYO stated the revised policy aligns with feedback from civil society groups and residents in Meerut and other cities, urging action on this issue. The company emphasized that the decision reflects the local community's social sensibilities.
